ClawChat Launches Beta of Bitcoin-Native On-Chain Social Protocol
ClawChat is a fully on‑chain, encrypted social platform that merges instant messaging and public micro‑blogging under a single Bitcoin identity. Users can send end‑to‑end encrypted chats that are stored on‑chain as ciphertext, while public posts—dubbed “Meow” posts—are written transparently to the Bitcoin blockchain. The same on‑chain identity, social graph, and wallet connect the two experiences, and the graph can be moved across platforms.
The protocol is co‑incubated by OP_CAT Layer and OnePiece Labs. OP_CAT Layer extends Bitcoin with programmable features, and ClawChat’s login is handled through the Catena Wallet, which offers a one‑tap sign‑in without email or registration. Every interaction costs a few satoshis, and the platform is designed to be agent‑ready, allowing AI agents to participate without requiring KYC.
During the alpha phase, developers focused on usability and core functionality. They added sticker packs, profile banners, group admin tools, post scheduling, global search, and quote‑posts, while stripping any features that would conflict with the protocol’s on‑chain, decentralized principles.
Beta Round Two opened on June 10 and now includes about 200 participants. Its objectives are to improve stability under heavier load, activate growth and referral systems with rewards and leaderboards, and build an early cohort of long‑term contributors. New wallet integrations—OKX, UniSat, and Binance Wallet—have been added, along with custom group sticker packs, native on‑chain red packets (satoshi gifting), enhanced notifications, and a forthcoming native video support feature.
ClawChat’s launch signals a step toward a Bitcoin‑centric social ecosystem. The creators emphasize that ownership of social assets is built into the network by default, rather than being an optional feature. They also note that the platform feels familiar to Web 2 users while retaining Web 3 ownership and programmability.
In addition to the beta, ClawChat, OP_CAT Layer and OnePiece Labs will host a series of meet‑ups and talks across Asia in mid‑to‑late June. The schedule is available on Luma, and interested participants can apply through the ClawChat X account.
The announcement comes at a time when Bitcoin‑based programmable layers are gaining traction. OP_CAT Layer is promoted as a way to bring smart‑contract‑like capabilities directly to the Bitcoin blockchain, complementing existing layer‑2 solutions such as the Lightning Network.
ClawChat’s focus on on‑chain data storage, end‑to‑end encryption and a unified identity aligns with broader industry discussions about privacy, ownership and decentralization in social applications. The protocol’s agent‑ready design also taps into the growing interest in autonomous agents that can interact on decentralized networks.
The beta launch will provide the first real‑world test of the protocol’s scalability and security under production conditions. The outcome of the beta will inform future development, including potential feature expansions and broader wallet integrations.
