Strive Adds 1,800 BTC, Surpasses Bullish as Fifth-Largest Public Bitcoin Holder
The purchase was financed through at‑the‑market programs that issued new ASST common stock and SATA preferred stock. The filing noted that the number of outstanding Class A common shares rose by 3.58 million during the week, a move that coincided with the Bitcoin buy. CEO Matt Cole announced the transaction on X, confirming that the 1,800‑BTC tranche had brought Strive’s treasury to 23,156 BTC.
ASST shares reacted sharply to the news. On August 31 the stock traded around $23, up about 6 % that day, and it has climbed roughly 165 % over the past six months. TD Cowen, which recently lifted its price target for ASST from $28 to $32, maintained a buy rating in a research note that highlighted the company’s “meaningfully exceeded” treasury activity.
Looking ahead, Strive has laid out a continued accumulation plan. The company intends to purchase approximately 4,300 BTC in the third quarter and another 3,000 BTC in the fourth quarter of 2026. Those purchases would bring total holdings close to 30,000 BTC, a level that would place Strive near the fourth spot, currently held by the Bitcoin Standard Treasury Company.
The move comes amid a broader uptick in corporate Bitcoin buying. Strategy (MSTR) ended a two‑month pause with a $370 million purchase, pushing its holdings above 845,000 BTC, while Bitmine announced its largest Ethereum acquisition since June. Strive’s latest tranche aligns with this renewed sector accumulation, reinforcing the trend of institutional entities expanding their digital‑asset treasuries.
In short, Strive’s 1,800‑BTC purchase has expanded its treasury to 23,156 BTC, positioned the company as the fifth‑largest public Bitcoin holder, and sparked a positive market response for its shares. The planned purchases for the remainder of 2026 could elevate it further in the ranking, while the broader corporate buying activity underscores a continued institutional interest in Bitcoin as a treasury asset.
